Napoleon liked the figure of the quadrifle placed on the top, that after winning the battle at Jena-Auerstedt in 1806, he decided to take her to Paris. During the Second World War, their destruction took place, and these contemporary adorning copies are their copies made in the years 1951-1952 by the sculptural team of Kranold.Īt the top of the Brandenburg Gate, a 5-meter sculpture of the winged goddess Victoria, who drives the quadriga (antique, Roman two-wheeled car drawn by four horses) made by a German sculptor, rests on top of the Brandenburg Gate and painter Johann Gottfried Schadow. In their interior are placed statues of the god Mars and the goddess Minerva. There are annexes on both sides of the gate. The attic of the building and the pillars dividing the rides are decorated with bas-reliefs depicting figures from Greek mythology (including Hercules). The front and rear facade of the gate is decorated with 15-meter columns designed in the Doric style with Ionic grooving. The German designer Carl Gotthard Langhans (one of the leading representatives of the early Classicist movement) was responsible for its design. These items can be rented in advance for a fee.The gate is one of the most recognizable monuments in Berlin. Towels and bed linen are not provided for stays of 6 months or more. For stays from 1 month a landlord´s confirmation of residence can be provided upon arrival if required. For this purpose, the apartment house requires copies of the guests´ identity cards or passports in advance. In case of arrival outside the reception hours, a key code will be agreed upon. For all stays an additional rental agreement of the apartment house must be signed in advance. In the maisonette category, a deposit of EUR 500.00 has to be paid regardless of the length of stay, in the other categories, this applies to stays of 20 nights or more. The minimum stay is 2 nights, for some special dates 3 nights. Business stays have to be proven in advance, for private stays or stays without corresponding proof the City Tax will be charged additionally at a rate of 5 % for the first 21 nights. The mentioned prices are minimum prices and are valid (depending on the season) per apartment per night and are inclusive of the statutory VAT and exclusive of the City Tax.
